L&rsquo;un des plus importants monast\u00e8res de Rethymnon, Arkadi a \u00e9t\u00e9 le centre d&rsquo;action de la guerre entre la Cr\u00e8te et la Turquie.<\/p><p>C&rsquo;\u00e9tait un refuge pour les combattants cr\u00e9tois. L&rsquo;holocauste du monast\u00e8re fut le grand d\u00e9part de l&rsquo;ind\u00e9pendance grecque. Il est situ\u00e9 dans une r\u00e9gion verdoyante avec une vue magnifique et c&rsquo;est pour cela que les visiteurs l&rsquo;admirent.<\/p><p>A l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur du monast\u00e8re, il y a un bois dor\u00e9 en bois v\u00e9ritable et l&rsquo;on croit que ce bois est miraculeux. Il y a \u00e9galement une plage d&rsquo;eau pure \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du monast\u00e8re, l&rsquo;une des meilleures de la pr\u00e9fecture de R\u00e9thymnon. Cette grotte pr\u00e9sente un int\u00e9r\u00eat arch\u00e9ologique et historique tr\u00e8s important. Selon la mythologie, il y avait la \u00ab\u00a0maison\u00a0\u00bb de Talos.<\/p><p>Talos \u00e9tait un g\u00e9ant qui prot\u00e9geait la Cr\u00e8te de ses ennemis. Pendant la p\u00e9riode classique, la grotte \u00e9tait un lieu de culte, notamment d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 Talea Ermi.<\/p><p>Pendant l&rsquo;occupation turque, des milliers de villageois y ont trouv\u00e9 un abri pour \u00e9chapper \u00e0 Husein Pasa. Mais Husein Pasa br\u00fbla l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e de la grotte et tous les villageois moururent d&rsquo;asphyxie. C&rsquo;est une grotte \u00e9tonnante, pleine de stalactites \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un petit village construit sur un haut monticule, o\u00f9 se trouvait la ville antique homonyme.<\/p><p>Depuis 1985, l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 de Cr\u00e8te participe aux fouilles de la cit\u00e9 antique.
